South West Wales to Ireland

The present St Davids Cathedral was established in the 1100s but there was a church and monastery here well before that. David was born in 500AD, the son of a prince of Ceredigion. David founded numerous monastic settlements and churches across Wales, Cornwall and Brittany. He rose to become Archbishop of Wales. When he died in 589AD he was buried in the cathedral that was on this site.
